Dick & Deirdre Shea
Owners and Founders
Native New Yorkers, Dick and Deirdre Shea first discovered Oregon wine from a recommendation made in their local wine shop in the late 1980’s. They were instantly wowed and captivated by the quality of wine from this young winegrowing region. Soon after, they made the decision to invest in a 100-acre piece of vineyard land in an untried area of the northern Willamette Valley, in what is now the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Their ambition was to grow grapes for some of the best winemakers in Oregon and beyond. More than 30 years later, that continues to be their greatest passion.
Peter Shea
GENERAL MANAGER
Peter grew up with the vineyard in his blood. In fact, he was born the same month that planting began at Shea Vineyard. Growing up, he spent summers helping with racking, cleaning barrels, and whatever else needed to be done around the winery. He began full-time at the winery after college in 2012. His favorite thing about the wine business and what drew him back is that no two days are ever the same, just like no two vintages are ever the same. The ability to tell the story of this place in time through wine is what inspires him. And of course, the special connection of having watched his family farm the site his entire life.
Jesus Marin
Vineyard Manager
Originally from Southern Mexico, Jesus, his father and brother began working for Shea in 1994. Jesus started as a field worker, then tractor driver, and has been the Vineyard Manager at Shea since 2007. His knowledge of the vineyard and leadership of his crew are exceptional. Over his nearly 30 years working at Shea, his steadfast stewardship of the vines at Shea Vineyard have been an essential ingredient to the quality of fruit produced year after year.
Dana Booth
Winemaker
Dana has been in the wine business for over 22 years and was initially drawn to wine for the fun and physical nature of the work while being able to explore other regions of the world. Now he loves the creative aspect and constant challenge of winemaking. He first met the Shea’s working harvest for them in 2012 and came back for harvests in 2017 and 2018, joining full-time as winemaker in April of 2019. His favorite thing about working here is the natural beauty of the vineyard and the unique variety of wine that can be made from the site.
